7 weeks
7 weeks: Little Swimmer

The baby, including 5 beautiful fingers and toes, swims around in the amniotic sac. Brain waves can be recorded and the baby’s heart is beating and pumping blood. The jaw is forming, including teeth buds in the gums.

8 weeks
8 weeks: As Big as a Grape

The baby is a little longer than an inch and has everything that will be found in a fully developed adult. The baby has fingerprints and can (lightly) grasp an object placed in the hand. The ears are continuing to develop and the baby’s skin is as thin as paper.

11 weeks
11 weeks: Sensitive To Touch

The baby has eyelids and nails and beautifully formed feet which are so tiny they could stand on an adult’s little fingernail. The baby is able to feel pain, wrinkle its forehead, swallow amniotic fluid and urinate. The baby’s organs i.e. brain, lungs, liver, kidney and intestines are formed and functional, only requiring growth and maturation.

3 and Half Months: Hair is Starting To Grow
3.5 months

The baby has some reflexes and will squirm if the mother’s abdomen is pressed.Fine hair is starting to grow on the baby’s head and the sex can be determined. The baby breathes amniotic fluid and sleeps, awakens and exercises.

4 months
4 Months: Hearing Develops

The baby is perfectly formed. By the end of the month the baby weighs half a pound or more and is eight to ten inches long. The baby can grasp, frown, and squint and possibly suck its thumb. Often the baby's mother begins to feel the baby’s movements sometime during this month. Because the baby’s ears are functioning, there is evidence that the baby can hear the mother’s voice and heartbeat as well as other external noises.

5 months
5 months: Extremely Active
5 months

The baby may ‘jump’ if a sound is loud or startling. All of the senses are fully developed and working i.e. smell, touch, taste, hear, see. During the next few weeks the baby will continue to be very active.

6 months
6 months: Continuing to Grow

The baby weighs a little more than 2 pounds and is continuing to do a lot of kicking and somersaults until its growth makes the area in the uterus to cramped to do large movements. The baby may often produce jerky movements that are felt by the mother because they are experiencing hiccups. Many babies can be saved with medical intervention if born now.
